Look Of The Day...Part Two

LOL!!! Seriously though, we absolutely without a doubt, have THE best dressed clientele in the city! Jackie Dharshi, an "original" Yu girl, shows us how Mackage's "Havana" leather shorts should be worn...if only we all had legs that went on for days!!!

Look Of The Day

Look who the sunshine brought in??? Bonnie Westerman, yet another Yu Fashion favourite, demonstrating quite beautifully that Mint IS indeed a very easy colour to work into an existing wardrobe. I love everything about this look, EVERYTHING!!!

*Bonnie is wearing Mackage's "Nellie" Jacket in Mint, Madison Marcus' "Stimulate Tank" in Natural, and 7FAM's "Skinny" jeans in NNYD.

Nation Ltd.

If you love wearing skinnies and super short shorts, OR if comfort is, and will forever be your main focus, you're going to love the "Idaho Tee" from Nation Ltd..

With its slouchy body and 3/4 length sleeves, this top will be a constant may want to pick up more than one!

Winter Kate...Just In!!!

We can't seem to get enough of Nicole Richie, or the fabulous pieces from her clothing line, Winter Kate. We're going nuts over each and every single piece...nuts!!! The following is a compilation of the silky "jackets" she is best known for:

Which one is YOUR favourite???

Aren't they amazing??? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Soooo buttery soft, and super chic...paired with the simplest of tees and pointed toe pumps, you'll STILL be the center of every room! Also, if you've been wanting to incorporate Mint into your wardrobe, but weren't yet sure how, Mackage's "Nellie" jacket may be the answer...

Couldn't you see this over a graphic tee, skinnies, and boots, OR as a topper to a basic white tee and shorts??? Definitely.

HeartLoom, it's been ages since we've seen you, BUT you sure made it worth our while...

"Carina Sweater" in Dune and "Dorothy Sweater" in Eggshell

"Harriot Top" in Ivory and "Vanya Dress" in Seafoam

My favourite is the "Carina Sweater." I love the blushy pink colour, and think it would be fabulous worn with distressed skinnies, boots, and a Chan Luu scarf.

New Day, New Brand

We're super excited to introduce yet another brand to our Yu girls, Parker. If you're a fan of either Joie or Rebecca Taylor, you'll LOVE this line. With a design team based out of New York, Parker focuses on bringing together the worlds of sophistication and sexiness. Their "collection of dresses and tops feature flirty details and girly prints perfect for day or night, work or play." The following is a small snippet of what we've received:

"Boy Jacket" in Black

"Kaya Top" in Black and "Perry Top" in Ivory

"Fleur Dress" in Fizz and "Ember Dress" in Seltzer

I loved the "Kaya Top" so much, I actually had to have it for myself. It'll be perfect under all my jackets!

Look what the Wildfox Fairy dropped off for us...

"Desert Crewneck Tee" in Clean White

"Lennon Happy Heart Sweater" in Valley Rogue
I am obsessed with the "Lennon Happy Heart" sweater in Valley Rogue!!! OBSESSED!!! I love it paired with skinnies, and think it'll be equally stunning with denim shorts and booties. This is a definite "MUST."

Dots, Dots, Dots

"Legging Ankle" in Square Dot

Square Dot Close-Up

OMG, I looooooooove these!!! SO adorbs. AG's "Legging Ankle" in Square Dot, a fun twist on the timeless polka dot, is the perfect pant for summer! Pair with a classic tank and flip flops for an easy, casual look, OR with a blazer, silkie, and pointed toe pumps for an effortlessly chic "work to drinks" outfit.

AG: Vintage

We ALL have our favourite "tried and true" cuts from AG, BUT we're always super excited when a new "body" is introduced...such is the case with AG's latest, the "Aubrey" in 10 Years Rio. This modern, straight leg silhouette is part of the AG-ed Vintage Collection. A collection where "the older the age, the lighter and more distressed" the denim.

"Aubrey" in 10 Years Rio

These jeans are great if you want the slender look of skinny, but without the constriction!

AG: Jewel Tones

"Stilts" just in from AG!!! This time in bright jewel tone shades of Brilliant Blue and Shamrock...the perfect accessory to a basic, white tee, don't you think?!?

We ALWAYS love introducing our customers to new lines, and today, we are beyond thrilled to welcome "Naven" to the Yu family!!! Naven, a contemporary women's clothing line, had its LA launch in the fall of 2007. Designed by Canadian twins, Kym and Alexis McClay, the Naven girl "is a confident, empowered woman, who uses color and fashion forward fits in their wardrobe to feel fun, flirty, and like a warrior princess." Sooooooo...if this is you, OR someone you'd like to be, stop in for a first hand look! The following are some of our favourite pieces this grouping:

The "Togo" in Limestone and "Cameo" in Blue Earth
The "Montagu" in Red Earth and "Agbada" in Oyster Shell

We received new Line Knitwear today; all of the pieces are great basics with subtle twists, setting them apart from the rest of your wardrobe "classics." My favorite is the "Cameo" sweater in Blue Earth; I think this is a total 80s revival, I'm picturing wearing it with the Vince "Jogging Pants"... what a way to complete the 80s athletic look?!?

New Line Knitwear

Wait...Line Knitwear does dresses??? I told you guys I'd be cranking out the blogs. I hope you're NOT sick of me already; I think this may be my last blog for my time here, unless Diane wants me to model a gorilla suit or something (thank God we aren't receiving fall stock)! Anyways, the "Vortex" dress in Caviar may not have any hanger appeal, but man does it have sex appeal! Haha. This is the perfect dress to throw on for a last minute event. The draping is super flattering for all bodies, reminding me very much of Alexander Wang. Pair it with your new Minkoff and you'll be ready to hit the town!

Mac Clutch

Mac Clutches in Jungle, Beige, and Purple

OMG!!! I'm loving the EASTER colors in the "Mac Clutch" we just received from Ms. Minkoff! I think these would be so fun right now with an all-black outfit for a POP of color, and of course once the weather gets nicer, I think they'll be great mixed in with all the other colors you'll be wearing! What do you guys think? Maybe I can convince my mom to get me one seeing as she gave up shopping (for herself) for Lent... fingers crossed!

James Perse

"Jersey Striped Dress" in Heather Grey/Tempest

"Pleated Below Surplus Shorts" in Burro

Summer NEEDS to come sooner (or I need to go on a vacation)! LOVING the striped maxi; I would totally wear this with a denim jacket and Chan Luu scarf. I like the look of these sneakers...I'm going to have to pull out my Converse.
*We also received replenishments of your favourite basics: the "Long Tank" and "Contrast Panel Shirt."

Splendid: Dresses

"Parisian Tulip Dress" in French Blue
"Indigo Chambray Dress" in Indigo

I seriously want the snow to melt ASAP, so I can start wearing these beautiful Splendid dresses! The "Parisian Tulip Dress" will be perfect for patio lunches under a cropped denim jacket, with a pair of either wedges or flats. The "Indigo Chambray Dress" is a total no-brainer piece, so easy to throw on and go; I'm loving it styled with the MINT flats.

Ella Moss

"Cisco Tank" in Mint and "Sun Tile Tank" in Blossom
"Feather Tail Blazer" in Linen
"Sun Tile Short Sleeve Top" in Black and "Sun Tile Dress" in Poppy

New Ella Moss has arrived, SO many awesome patterns perfect for spring. All of the "Sun Tile" pieces would be perfect for your next vacation getaway. My favorite item from this shipment would be the "Feather Tail Blazer." I love the Missoni-esque print, and think it would be a great jacket to inject new life to any of your silky basics!!!

Look of the Day: Jerd Edition

So, I may be a little bias...but, I think my outfit is most definitely the look of the day! This Autumn Cashmere "Hand Knit Skull" sweater has been a staple of mine since my mom bought it for me after a midterm week from hell! I've worn it with leggings and jeans all week, and today I thought I'd pay homage to my girlie side by pairing it with a skirt. Of course, everyone knows I'm the least girlie girl, so the skulls toughen up the look. So as NOT to appear too dressy, I also added my wedge sneakers by Ash, and a cashmere toque. For jewellery, I kept it pretty simple with my staples; I always wear a Jugar 'N Spice necklace, today it's the "OMG" necklace. I just love this jewellery line, all the pieces are super fun and perfect for everyday, and of course, I LOVE it when people ask "are you really wearing OMG on your neck???" If anyone knows me, they know that the 14 bracelets (yes... I've counted) stay permanently on my right wrist at all times. They're the guests that have overstayed their welcome at my arm party...but, I love them too much to ask them to leave! My guests all originated from Yu Fashion (naturally) consisting of Tai, Love Heals, and Elephont, and obviously, no outfit is complete without red lips!!!

Jerd's Corner: Mint

Mint is THE color for spring, and trust me, it's much easier to wear than you would think. To help our favorite Yu girls out, I've come up with four outfits that are sure to put some "spring" in your step. I tried to do a range of outfits to show how truly versatile mint can be.

Look 1: I thought it would be fun to play with color, texture, and pattern all in one outfit, personally I think it is accomplished here. If you had to buy any jean for spring, it should be the Seven for All Mankind "Skinny" in Mint. They will be your spring trend jean; I love these paired with Vince's "Leather Tank." For a little fun, I added Ella Moss' "Feather Tail Blazer" in Linen, the subtle neon pattern complements the mint for a fresh spring look. And of course, no fashionista is complete without her Minkoff! I think this outfit would be perfect for a casual Friday at the office followed by drinks downtown.

Look 2: This look is just SO easy; it is the baby step of baby steps into mint territory! There is NO excuse not to wear color, I made it super easy for you! I love Ella Moss' "Stella S/S Top" in Mint with Mackage's "Hidi" Jacket in Brick, totally unexpected but totally works. Paired with vintage Seven for All Mankind "Skinny" jeans, this is a no-brainer look, perfect for running errands.

Look 3: As I was coming up with this look, I automatically thought of the Kardashian sisters. I probably watch too much reality TV, but I envision this outfit on a date night, or pull a "Kardashian" and wear this to your next pedicure. I love when clothing kills two birds with one stone,  and these jeans do just that (floral and color...hello investment)! A subtle mint "Sleeveless Henley" by Rebecca Taylor works perfectly with the printed pants, and to pull the outfit together is the "Mazzy Blazer" by Ella Moss. I think this blazer is a perfect staple for spring, something that you could throw on over anything,  and look instantly polished. Add some sky high nude pumps, and people will be asking whether you are the 4th Kardashian!

Look 4: This look is dedicated to a boho goddess, a goddess that should be living in LAX as opposed to YEG. The Maison Scotch "Pima Chino(s)" in Azure are probably the cutest summer pant, they're just screaming for a pair of espadrilles or flip-flops. To keep with the bohemian look, I added the Vince "Drop Shoulder Top" in Stone and every bohemian's staple, the Chan Luu scarf. The feathers on the Brave purse will unleash anyone's inner hippie!

So, there you have it, I hope you all give mint a try! It's not hard, I promise... I'm typing this blog with mint nail polish on, and I seriously can't wait to wear more of this color for spring!

Paige's Pick: If I Had...

The impractical side of me: If I had a million dollars, I'd buy clothes and shoes...and bags...and jewelry...and be SO, SO, SO happy and stylish! The practical side of me: If I had a million dollars, I'd buy clothes and shoes...and bags...and jewelry...and then I'd have 1 dollar. This dilemma has yet to present itself; however, I'd like to think that if I had a million dollars, I'd still be practical and spend my money wisely. So, this being the case, I decided that I would allow myself three (splurge) items from YU. Have a look below at my must haves:

1. I would pick our new Mackage "Larissa" leather jacket in Lite Grey. This jacket is the perfect spring jacket, mostly because of its color; it would pair so easily with light, bright, dark, and every other color in between! The detailing on this jacket is awesome; the quilted shoulder gives it a "dressier" feel, yet does not take away from the jacket's motorcycle-esque look. This neutral jacket would be a great addition to any closet!

2. Okay, so I know some of you are probably still in the, "I can't wear colored pants, it's just not me" phase, but let me tell you, you're preaching to the choir! That is until now, anyways. I am obsessed with 7FAM's "Skinny" jeans in Bright Aqua; the color is gorgeous and so refreshing...not to mention the fact that mint is the hottest color of the season!!! The feel and stretch of these pants are unreal (don't worry if you forget yoga pants for your next class, just keep these on!).

3. This new Rebecca Minkoff "Cupid" bag in Purple is my third million-dollar pick. I love this bag and think it would be so cool to add to a neutral outfit. The color of this bag is great for summer, and can be worn with many different colors, not just to neutrals. Bags should be fun, so don't worry about "matching." I also love the style of this bag; it can be worn either cross body, or as a hand bag, which makes throwing it on as a final accessory for an outfit super easy to do. Rebecca certainly out did herself on this one!

Now I just need to win the lottery, simple right??? ;)
