Jerd's Corner: Maxi Dresses

Last time I blogged about Maxi Skirts, now let's move up to Maxi Dresses, the ultimate summer staple. The Maxi Dress can be worn multiple ways from dressy to casual, from minimally chic to bohemian cool. I love this look for summer, and have decided to put together three looks to inspire.

1. Minimal: The second I saw the Splendid "Tee Maxi Dress," I instantly thought of the queen of minimalism Jil Sander; this dress is a dead-ringer for her spring maxis. Maxi dresses are not usually thought of as being minimalistic as we usually equate them with bohemian style; however, this particular dress is an exception! Pair this with simple sandals and bright lipstick, Jil would be proud!!!

2. Bohemian: There is no better time to do Bohemian than in the summer: throw on a printed maxi, Winter Kate kimono, stack upon stack of wooden bangles, and gladiator sandals and pretend you live in LA instead of YEG...hahaha!!! The Queen of Bohemian, Ms. Richie, always pulls the bohemian look off so well...soooo inspirational!

3. Casual: Since Maxi dresses are so comfortable, they can easily be worn casually, and makes for the perfect summer "airport" outfit, or just for running around town doing errands. I love how Miranda Kerr keeps it simple in her tee-shirt Maxi dress while at the airport...tres chic!!!

So, all we need now is for this dumping of snow to melt...or a vacation, which ever comes first!
