Luxury is ALL in the details, and it's precisely these details that add polish and refinement to any and all things, including dressing. Whether it be the perfectly carved button found on a sweater, or the contrasting stitching evident on a pair of jeans, it's these finishing touches that make a garment special and sets it apart from all the others.
Common this time of year is fur accented trimming on both fall and winter-y items: faux and/or real, both can be found in abundance. A sweater may be "just" a sweater until the addition of a fur collar. This simple addition instantly elevates it, giving off a dressier more luxurious feel especially when paired with a flowy silk top. Pictured above we have Heartloom's "Kai Sweater" in Tiramisu layered over Joie's "Melisent Top" in Raisin; the lushness of the cardigan juxtaposes beautifully with the delicate texture and airiness of the blouse underneath. Shown, many would consider a "dressier" option, for something slightly more casual, replace the silk top with a classic tee...while a plain one is great, a striped or graphic one adds drama and therefore, dimension.
From top to toe, every component is important when putting together a well thought out look. Finishing touches such as jewellery, footwear, and choice of handbags can take a look uptown, downtown, or somewhere in between. Typically, the sparklier the jewels, the higher the heel, the smaller the bag, the "dressier" the perception; however, perception is all it is. Always, the MOST stimulating outfits consist of elements that cross style lines; pair your glam jewels and platform heels with a rocker tee and distressed boyfriend jeans, wear that vintage fur with a plaid button-down shirt and leather shorts...the interest therein lies in the details and combination chosen.
Above, we've chosen to layer typically "fancy" jewels, Cuchara's "Bella" and "Sophia" necklaces with J Slide's casual "Annabelle" sneakers. The result, when worn together with the faux fur accented sweater and silky top, is a well-balanced, thoughout outfit not bound by any particular style "box", but rather one which manages to check more than a few of them off...THE ultimate goal in dressing, don't you think?!!
