Style Highlight: Texture & Shine

From Chanel, Saint Laurent, to Versace, metallics are proliferating the catwalks this season. A surefire holiday HIT, this silvery and gold trend offers a fresh option for day and nighttime looks and we can't get enough of all the ways it can be worn. As we know, luxury is ALL in the details. Metallic hardware and embellishments on workhorse staples such as button-ups and shoes convey an edgy yet grounded look. This has garnished a faithful following and has been a recurring element on the high fashion scene.

For a sexy and elevated look, all-over metallics STEAL the show. Pictured above is Free People's "Sequin Romper Dress", decked in detailed rustic gold sequins. If you're not quite ready to part ways with your LBD this holiday, add an ounce of familiarity by combining the best of both worlds. With the romper dress pictured, we styled it with Vince's "Long-sleeve Turtleneck" to add dimension and texture (more on that shortly). Think of this look as the cooler cousin of the LBD.

Silhouettes we are seeing are clean-cut, fluid, and thoughtful and a trend that flawlessly complements this is making style choices rich in texture.

No longer a taboo to be donning faux, pictured above is Kendall + Kylie's "Faux Fur Mink Coat", now in its third restock. Aside from its obvious element of warmth, this stunner offers a NECESSARY opportunity to truly complete the picture. We see texture recently dominate in velvet fabrics, ribbed knits, and the ever classic faux fur. Taking this and metallics is a guaranteed fashion-envy masterpiece. While it's important to mention that not all intersecting trends result in the perfect harmony, fashion lovers like you and I know sometimes it just takes some experimentation for a fashion-lottery win.

"Maxi Dress" in Frog

Received in Frog, a GORGEOUS colour reminiscent of jade, Vince's "Maxi Dress" is a versatile wonder. With thin shoulder straps and a flatteringly drapey silhouette, it's the perfect backdrop or main attraction to any ensemble. Throw on a knitted fur bolero with strappy heels and a statement necklace for a wedding or holiday party, or, layer over a fitted turtleneck with a leather jacket and combat boots for a slightly more casual option. However this beauty is styled, it's sure to become a wardrobe favourite...LOVE.

Received in Black, MOTHER Denim's "High-Waisted Looker" is a MUST for all those craving an option other than denim. Similarly cut to all your favourite skinnies, this particular pair is crafted of ultra luxurious microfibre giving off the look and feel of genuine suede. Cut slim throughout with a higher than average waist, this beauty pairs perfectly with all of this season's TO DIE FOR blouses.

"Stunner Ankle Fray" in Whattcha Got Cookin'

With weathered markings at the fold over collar and front flap pockets coupled with a frayed shirttail hemline, MOTHER Denim's "Honey Chew Shirt" in Bite The Big One has all the makings of a wardrobe favourite. Lightweight and relaxed in fit, this bleached out topper is an absolute no-brainer paired with this season's crop-legged silhouette. LOVE.

Style Highlight: Sets and Camo

Making its way in and out through the decades, we can definitely say camo is back- and with a BANG! This "blend-in" print is nothing short of making you stand out. An increasingly popular colour, military green, versed with its iconic sand and golden hues makes this print a go-to piece time in and time out. While we are fan of the classic military jacket, we love this trend in all its fun forms from wide-legged trousers, OTK boots, to overcoats. If you haven't already invested in a piece, we strongly suggest you do, as camo is becoming as timeless as the little black dress. We are especially loving this trend paired with an equally as HOT trend: coordinating sets.

Trickled down from couture, such as the likes of Gucci and Marc Jacobs, coordinating, or an all-in-one piece takes the guesswork out of styling. We see this played out on supermodels Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, along with our favourite fashion bloggers. While coordinating sets were once deemed too "matchy matchy", the key for a risk-free outfit is blending in other style elements for a seamless effect. With athleisure continuing to be a game-changer, this combo is a no-brainer. Styling an athleisure-influenced set with a bold print, like camo, will ironically tune down its "in your face" persona and transform it into a statement-making, EYE-CATCHING ensemble.

Giving off a laid-back, "cool girl" street vibe, this casual yet forward look makes this a MUST-HAVE for every fashion-lover's wardrobe.

Last week, we had the chance to have a virtual sit down with Julie Hemsky, the face behind the eclectic jewelry line, Jugar N Spice. We learned about Julie, her new "Fall & Fine" collection, and a few interesting tid bits we'd love to share with you, our readers!

If you aren't yet familiar with the brand, Jugar N Spice was created in 2011 and currently operates out of Dallas, Texas. It turns out, its name came about rather naturally, with many people telling Julie for as long as she can remember, "you've got spice, Garcia".

And so, without further ado, let's get started...

We're excited to see your new collection. What was the inspiration behind "Fall & Fine"? What can we expect to see?

My main inspiration was stackables. I wanted this new collection to easily stack with others, from bracelets to necklaces. With the fine collection, it’s dainty gold & diamond jewelry that really looks better stacked than alone, in my opinion. For the larger pieces in the Fall collection, same. Colourful chokers paired with more colourful chokers, gold coin necklaces with more necklaces etc etc

Think more, more, then add some more :)

Is there a certain piece, whether in this new collection or a previous one, that you are particularly proud of?

Yes! My black diamond & white topaz eye bracelet. I seriously NEVER take that off.

It’s been with me in numerous countries around the world, always watching over me ♥️

This season, we’ve even revamped it and upgraded all the original nuggets that were gold-plated to now either 14k gold-filled or sterling silver. Better quality and best of all, same exact price :)

We love fashion! We're always interested to see what a person's go-to piece is in their closet. What's yours?

Oh man, that’s SO tough...can I pick two? Well... I’m gonna pick two!

First one is this high waisted, snug fitting, and extremely comfortable mid length Velvet black stretch skirt. It automatically comes with me in ANY trip I go! You can transform it from casual day time / beach / to chic dinners with zero effort. Goes with everything so naturally it goes with me everywhere.

And next, I’d say is this Chanel brooch with pearls I bought in Paris 3 years ago. It transforms and makes any outfit better than a strand of pearls.

I used it on dresses, to pinch down the collar of my tee-shirts and create a side off-shoulder look, pin it on my toques, jackets, sweaters - you name it!

Also, what's something not many people may know about you?

Even though I’m married to a pro hockey player and have watched HUNDREDS of his games over the last 10 years, I still don’t know how icing works or half the rules. I kid you not.

It’s pretty embarrassing actually, but I’m not bothered by my lack of knowledge for the game.

I do however love going to watch him skate around. Oh, and I also can’t skate.

Any last words you would like to leave our readers with?

Yes, that I’m extremely happy to be coming back to the city where it all started for me.

Edmonton will always be a home in my heart, most of my family still resides here and almost all my closest friends.

It’s always such a fun and happy time for me whenever I come back.
