Vince: The Black And White Of It...

The Black and White trend of seasons past is still going strong as proven by Vince's most recent drop. Not only can these two "colours" create drama when used correctly, but they're also wardrobe staples found in many a fashionista's closets! The following are some of our top picks:

How fun is the "Colorblock Drop Shoulder Sweater" in Black Sailcloth? It's Vince's "layered fake-out"...the look of layers without the added bulk, GENIUS!!! 

We're ALL loving the "Mixed Media Top" in Black/White (above). Composed of a Modal front and Silk back, this top is a feminine twist on a classic (casual) silhouette. Dress it down with your favourite skinnies and flats, OR dress it up with a leather skirt and booties!!!

Graham & Spencer: Silkies

Also from Graham and Spencer are two (new) silky favorites! The first one, the "Sun Wash Watercolor Tank" in Multi, would be perfect with denim shorts, or perhaps a pair of white capris on a tropical vacation! The other top, the "Washed Silk" in Blush, will be great with a pair of dark skinny jeans and wedges...so feminine and flowy!

So, like most of our customers, I've been OBSESSED with Pinterest!!! I'm on for hours at a time looking for fabulous jewellery and outfit ideas...one of my favourite looks of late is anything paired with short shorts, particularly leather ones. Although this look is waaaaaay beyond MY comfort zone, I can picture a number of our Yu Fashionistas rocking this look...To make things easier (because I'm THAT accommodating!!!), I've selected two of the three necessary pieces to put this outfit together...

"Babette" in Cream

I love the look of white and/or cream textured tops paired with just about anything for summer. To me, this look is completely timeless, and will always represent the carefree nature of the warmer months. Just in from Velvet is the "Babette" top in Cream (pictured above)...SO adorable!!! I'm obsessed with the crochet detailing around the neck as well as the swiss dot accent throughout. This top coupled with light-washed skinnies, ankle booties, and wrists FULL of wooden and turquoise beads is a dream outfit in the making!!!

We just received two gorgeous silk dresses from Parker: the "Ariana" in Nautical Blue and "Daria" in Black/White Chevron! They're both adorably light and flowy, ideal for the hot summer months ahead; the unique prints and colors make them really stand out. Both dresses are super versatile, easily dressed up and/or down. Just swap in your gladiator sandals and jean jacket for heels and a chunky necklace and you're good to go!

Free People Surprise

Our Free People deliveries are always eagerly anticipated here at the store, so can you imagine the excitement when not one, but three boxes were dropped off at our door?!? Choosing a favourite is near impossible, so we did our best and narrowed it down to two...

FP's "Printed Easy Rider Button Down" in Red Combo is an absolute no-brainer. With an adorable print, this sheer chiffon top couldn't be easier to wear!

"Jungle Heat Cardi" in Ivory Tiger

I LOVE collecting things, and have grown quite fond of knitted cardigans from this bohemian infused label. Their latest, the "Jungle Heat Cardi" in Ivory Tiger, may need to come home with me. This striped hooded cardigan with fringe trim and neon detailing is the perfect compliment to a tank and shortie shorts!!!

Joie: Forgotten Gem

Last week in the midst of my excitement over the floral theme tops from Joie, I forgot to mention the "Tyson Stripe Tank" in Blue Violet, another favourite of mine!!! I always love the nautical "theme" come Spring/Summer, but what I love more is when it's done in an unconventional way, in this case, with the vertical stripes. I think this top will be fab worn under an off-white blazer with skinnies and ankle boots, don't you?!?

Britt's Must Have!!!

This week I have my eyes on Ella Moss' GORGEOUS Black and White "Lila Maxi Dress." It's absolutely stunning, and so figure flattering, even for "shorties" like myself. Although I do enjoy color this time of year, I truly am a black and white kinda girl. I think the contrast between the two colors makes for a strong statement, and the chevron pattern gives the dress an air of sophistication. How could I not stare at it all day?!?

When I first saw this dress, I immediately thought of the Kardashians as I could definitely see them ALL in a something similar to this. They're all suckers for black and white, and obsessed with maxi dresses too! I can picture them all cruising down the streets of  L.A. wearing this dress with their huge sunglasses, Chloe bags, and of course, killer heels!

See what I mean??? For those of you who AREN'T fans of the Kardashians like I am, the following is proof that black and white maxis are indeed popular with other celebs too...

What's Mabel Wearing???

Mabel is looking bright and cheery today! She's opted to wear Joie's "Cina Tank" in Bright Fushia, and Ella Moss' "Mazzy Blazer" in Cream. She also has on my personal favorite of our Leigh and Luca Scarves, the "Hummingbird Square" in White/Pink combo, Rebecca Minkoff's "Cupid Tote" in Smoke, and a chunky Karyn Chopik necklace. This outfit makes Mabel look both playful and sophisticated at the same time! She definitely looks like she belongs on a patio somewhere having lunch and sipping "fancy" cocktails with the girls!!! Too bad she has to stick around the store all day, working her charm; however, don't feel too bad for our girl, shes been hanging outside in the sun ALL morning!

Paige's Pick: "Dress" To Impress

Since summer's right around the corner, and the weather actually seems to be co-operating, I've had many people coming in inquiring about summer dresses. I have an announcement to make: we have TONS of dresses, ones for each and every occasion. Below, I've chosen three different "stand out" dresses for inspiration.

This first outfit I chose for "everyday" wear, whether you're going out for lunch, or have casual Fridays at work. I started with Velvet's "Kaela" dress in Firecracker, and paired it with AG's "Harper" denim jacket in Topanga Embroidery. For shoes, I've chosen one of my favorite pairs in the store, Ash's "Jessica" booties in Taupe. Finally, I added House of Harlow's "White Sand Starburst Station Necklace" in Yellow Gold. I would also recommend building an arm party using both Chan Luu and Jocelyn Kennedy bracelets. If you feel like showing your true Albertan roots, try pairing this Velvet dress with cowboy boots and a white denim jacket!

I put this next outfit together for a dinner function. I chose Rebecca Taylor's "Eyelet Smocked" dress and Ash's "Dune" booties, both in Black. I accessorized simply with a necklace, but adding some funky beaded bracelets would give this outfit a more updated feel. This classic dress would be perfect for an evening out without you having to give your outfit too much thought. For a more formal affair, try putting this dress with black pumps and LOTS of sparkly accessories. This dress will NEVER steer you wrong if you need a last minute outfit, after all, black NEVER goes out of style!

This next outfit is definitely my favorite of the three I put together. I chose Parker's "Allegra" dress in Sand and Melissa's "Temptation" shoes in Nude. For jewelry, I layered on Catherine Popesco "Collette Necklaces" in Smoke and Rosewater. The intricate beading and feathers are what make this dress SOOOOO special. This outfit would be perfect for a summer wedding or perhaps a 1920's party...very Gatsby, wouldn't you say?!?

Joie: Flower Power

It's a GOOD day...Joie is here!!! As per usual, I want everything, but because that's not always possible, I've narrowed things down to my absolute "must haves..."

The "Rain B Top" in Carrot is a new body for Joie; cut slightly looser in the body, this tank will be beautiful with all your favourite skinnies. The fun poppy print adds the perfect amount of whimsy to any outfit!

"Devitri Cardigan" in New Moon

The "Devitri Cardigan" in New Moon may be my favourite of the bunch...SO feminine and pretty. Made of a silk georgette, this top with its scattered floral pattern is incredibly light and airy. I love the look of it with light washed denim, whether it be full legged or shorts does not matter...either would be TO-DIE!!!

 We just received this fabulous "Denim Macrame Vest" from Free People, and already I MUST HAVE IT! Yes girls, it's that cute!!! I've been slightly obsessed with denim lately, and have been looking for the perfect denim vest, so the minute this beauty came through our doors, it was love at first sight!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how a-typical this vest is with the crocheted back! I also love how the front is quite distressed, and grungy in comparison to the back; it's the PERFECT contrast!

This vest is also incredibly versatile. I can see it worn over a summer dress, a chunky knit sweater, or a flowy boho blouse. Those are just a few ideas, but honestly, I think it will work with a million different things! Here's an example of how I would personally wear this fabulous vest.

What's Mabel Wearing???

Mabel looks ready to explore a marketplace in Athens, or saunter along the exotic beaches of Santorini in the outfit she's wearing today. She has on Maison Scotch's "Long Drapey Skirt" in Coral/Multi, Sundry's "Cotton Voile" top, and Splendid's "Swingy Tank," both in White. For accessories, Mabel has on a tie dye Chan Luu scarf, and necklaces by Chan Luu and Charlene K. The colors and prints in Mabel's outfit work great together, and are perfect for the hot, summer sun.

With a fabulous pair of gladiator sandals, and a sketchbook under her arm, Mabel would fit right in with the Mediterranean landscape; however, we think she ALSO looks pretty darn good basking in the sunlight outside our store!

Velvet: Dresses

Blue, blue, and more blue! Just in from Velvet are two, yes, you guessed it, BLUE dresses! We received the "Zara" in Blueberry and "Drea" in Jellybean. The former dress is our favorite; with the perfect amount of blousing, and a nice drapy bottom, this dress is incredibly flattering! If you're looking for a casual "throw on" piece to wear with flip flops, then the "Drea" dress is definitely for you!!!

Velvet

Along with a "basics" replenishment from Velvet, one of our favourite lines, we also received some specialty pieces: the "Tory" in Indigo and "Stella" in Multi. We're obsessed with the neon leopard print on the latter...imagine pairing this hot number with leather leggings...I hear the whistles already! In addition to these, we also received some great tops for everyday wear: the "Vienna" short sleeved tee in Cayman and "Lara" long sleeved tee in Nautical.
