I hate to sound like a broken record, but once again, I'm going to say it: "I LOVE Winter Kate!" I really can't think of anyone who does "Boho Glam" better than she does. The latest pieces from her collection have a vintage-y, old world glamour vibe to them. I see each and every piece with dark skinnies, and/or leather pants, sky high booties, and tons and tons of BIG, BOLD, GOLD jewellery!!!

Autumn Cashmere

The time for cozy sweaters has come, and so has a shipment of one of our favorite sweater designers, Autumn Cashmere! We received numerous pieces that are ALL casual, comfy, and effortless; all pieces are unique, some with elbow patches, and others with zippers down the back. My vision of the perfect fall outfit consists of a pair of skinny jeans, an over sized casual sweater, big comfy scarf (preferably a Chan Luu), and a pair of booties. Lucky for you, YU has all the necessary pieces to make that outfit come true! I never thought there'd come a day I said this, but can fall please hurry up?!?

7FAM Does Brocade

We just unpacked 7FAM's "Skinny" in Black Jacquard, and we're all drooling over the print!!! These are fabulous and can be styled a multitude of ways. To play up the feminine print, throw on a silky blouse, platform booties, and a neck full of sparkly gems; for an edgier approach, I suggest a graphic tee, leather jacket, motorcycle boots, and a Chan Luu scarf.

The "Bright Day Jacket" in Ivory is absolutely to die for, but my personal favourite is the "Morning Bell Pullover" in Blue Moon. It's the coziest sweater, but with the crochet back, there's nothing ordinary about it...perfect for those university days when you need a snuggly sweater, but also want to look your best.

The Magical World of Free People

Free People is the mastermind of what I like to call "Storybook" dresses. Storybook dresses have a dreamlike quality to them, not an elaborate princess-y dress, but more ethereal and slightly whimsical...something right out of a fairytale! They have created yet another magical dress with the "Floral Mesh Lace Dress" in Red Hot.

 

 

I LOVE the colour of this dress, a gorgeous firecracker red! It injects a bold pop of unexpected wow into this girlie dress. I love the way it is styled in the pictures; the chunky wedges and socks provides a nice contrast to the dainty dress. Remember in fashion, juxtaposition makes for the most interesting outfits!!!

Perfect timing...we just unpacked a box of sweaters from Line! As per usual, they did not disappoint; we received everything from classic, cashmere pullovers to boxy, over sized knits.

Free People

"Willow Glen" Top in Tea

Just in from Free People is the " Willow Glen" top in Tea; I love the bohemian yet romantic vibe of it. For the perfect fall outfit, I suggest throwing it on under a cropped fur vest, dark skinnies, chocolate riding boots, and a Chan Luu scarf.

I Heart "Heartloom"

We just received a small, but lovely grouping from Heartloom. They always seem to put forth a collection that is both feminine and edgy at the same time. The following are some of our favourites:

"Zelda" Top in Indigo

I love the "Zelda" top in Indigo. Worn under a fitted blazer, with leather skinnies, and sky high boots, it has all the makings of a jaw dropping outfit. The best part? The top is so heavily embellished that "extra" jewellery isn't a requirement...although, in my opinion, it never hurts to add!

"Brie" Dress in Ultramarine and "Sophia" Dress in Berry

If you're a fan of dresses, you're going to love both the "Brie" in Ultramarine and "Sophia" in Berry. Top either dress off with a cropped leather jacket, tights, and booties for a fabulous day to evening look.

L.A.M.B.

We LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Gwen Stefani!!! There couldn't be a better spokes model for the girlie girl/rocker chic set. She is the perfect mix of both, and so is L.A.M.B., her eponymous clothing line. The following is a small sampling of the pieces we just received:

A.D.D.

A.D.D. has developed somewhat of a cult following here at the store. With their amazing designs, fabric, and attention to detail its no wonder why. Here are two of the styles we just received:

My favourite, of course, is the "Fur Border" coat in Black; the detachable fur collar gives the jacket just that little bit of something extra.Throw this on over a lightweight sweater, skinny jeans, and your favourite pair of Uggs, and you won't even mind that you're about to spend endless hours at the hockey rink!

Great "Basic"

Along with some of our fave Joie pieces that were replenished last week, was this beauty: the "Mellea" blouse in New Moon. With graduated pleats framing its button placket, this semi-sheer, collarless, silk crepe blouse provides the perfect backdrop to this season's must have furs and jackets.

Look who the sun brought in?!? Jackie, a long time Yu girl, is shown here in Rebecca Taylor's "Nailhead Tee" in Eclipse and AG's "Leatherette Legging" in Black...one of my favourite looks this season. Who needs accessories when you've got the cutest little guy evvvvveeeeeeeeer?!? TO-DIE!!!

Old Faves

It's always a great day at the store whenever we receive Joie, and an even better day when old favourites are part of the delivery. This was precisely the case last week, when both "Fanny" and "Edaline" tops made their encore appearances...

I love both these tops with jeans, but think they'd be amazing with "leather" pants...the perfect mix of girly and edge, ALWAYS a good thing.

Ugg

Making its debut this season is the "Josie II" (leather) boot by Ugg. We're super excited seeing as the original "Josie" (suede) was an instant hit last go around. These pull-on, mid-calf boots are ideal for cooler weather, with the rubber sole providing great traction once the snow hits...BOO!!!

New Nation Bodies

As per usual, our latest Nation Ltd. delivery has been flying out the door. It's no surprise seeing as they do make the best tees ever!!! Along with cult faves "Wailea" and "Georgia" tees, we've also brought in two new styles that are guaranteed winners: the "Venice" and "Emerald Bay Tunic." Come in soon before they all disappear (again)!!!

We are very excited to introduce our newest member of the Yu family...Sam & Lavi! Co-founders of this contemporary lifestyle brand, Sam and Lavi, believe getting dressed should be fun and leave you looking and feeling amazing. Sam & Lavi makes its fashionable entrace to Yu with the fabulous "Cabin Parka!" It's the perfect winter coat for a million and one reasons, but apart from it being the trendiest parka you'll ever own, the only reason you'll need is this: it's a 4-in-one! The middle picture is the coziest version of this parka; the fur lining right against your body will keep you nice and toasty! To wear this parka in the cool, but not yet freeezing fall weather, just unzip the lining from the shell! Now you have a stunning lightweight fur zip-up (left) and a military style fall coat (right). The final option is to flip the fur away from your body,when it feels a tad bit too warm. My personal favourite is the outer shell on its own, perfect for leggings and combat boots!

7FAM

Fresh out of the box are these 7FAM "Skinny" jeans in laser printed python. Because of the "subtle" color combination and classic print, these will be relatively easy to wear...just throw on your favourite tee, leather jacket, and motorcycle boots,  how much easier can it be?

It's that time of year again...Odd Molly is here!!! I always look forward to their knits every season, and this time is no exception. Here is a quick glance at some of our picks:

My fave is, of course, the "Egotrip Coat" in Silky Pink. I've dubbed it the "Russian Princess," for all the beautiful colours! Can't wait to wear this over a basic white tank, skinnies, and boots...perfect weekend outfit.

Collar Love

Brace yourselves ladies...I LOVE bling!!! Shocker, I know...haha! All kidding aside, the fall and winter months brings with them richer colours, textures, fabrics, and with these usually comes embellishments in ALL forms whether on tops, pants, dresses, and/or coats. Knowing that this was going to be a strong trend moving forward, I was delighted to see the "City Of Dreams" sweater in Cookies and Cream included in our most recent Free People delivery. Everything about this top is perfection from the colour, to the shape, to the sequin and beaded detailing around the collar; I LOVE it!

I think it's adorable as styled in the picture (above), but think it would be amazing paired with this season's other "must have," leather pants, for the perfect mix of prim and edge. What do you think, will you be rocking a sequined collar this season?!?

Florals Galore

Floral prints, whether on tops or bottoms, are sure here to stay!!! Free People's latest pullover, the "Flower Bomb" in Antique Combo, is a perfect example of floral print done right. With its relaxed body and subtle colour combination, this sweater is a guaranteed "go to" this season. Wear it with your favourite skinnies,  ballet flats, and a Chan Luu scarf for an easy, effortless look, OR to amp up the style quotient, throw it on under this season's must have fur vest, woollen shorts, tights, and lace-up booties...very Sienna Miller, don't you think?

 

 

Sooooooooo Worth The Wait...

I've been on pins and needles, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the "Flower Power Cardi" by Free People, and boy was it ever worth it!!! STUNNING!!! I love how the vibrant colour of the blooms contrast with the black backdrop of the sweater...it's feminine, yet edgy at the same time. The weight and length make it ideal for the cooler weather we're sure to face. Pair it with a graphic tee, classic skinnies, and motorcycle boots for a rocker bohemian vibe, OR with a basic tank, skinnies, and riding boots for a "softer" look.

John & Jenn

Something that we can't deny is the love we feel when a new line comes to YU. Although it's never good for our wallets, these new lines keep us on our toes and up with the trends. We have had a small shipment of John & Jenn previously which was a HUGE hit. Where the last delivery was "basic" heavy, this delivery concentrates more on "fashion" pieces: sweaters you can dress up and go out in.  We received cozy "throw ons," perfect for a cooler day, as well as longer sweaters sprinkled with sequins...the perfect sweaters for an evening out. Just in from Joie are some great silky "must haves"...perfect additions to your fall wardrobe!!! All the pieces we received have a fairly basic, yet unique look to them. One of our favorites is the "Aimee" sweater in Caviar. It is comfortable, easy to wear, and soooooo versatile! This sweater is perfect on it's own, or as the backdrop for fabulous jewellery.
